Join us for the kick-off of the first-ever Umbrella Fringe with Good Day Sunshine at the Kirkland Performance Center.

Good Day Sunshine is a dynamic five piece band from Seattle, WA. who performs the music of The Beatles. ​ Rather than being an impersonation, Good Day Sunshine focuses on an engaging live-music experience performing The Beatles' most recognized hits as well as the albums "Rubber Soul", "Revolver", “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, “The White Album”, “Abbey Road”, and “The Rooftop Concert” in their entireties. ​ Their high-energy, inspired performances appeal to those already familiar with or new to the music of The Beatles!

Shelby Natasha is a Seattle based alt-folk musician and music producer. Growing up living between the Pacific Northwest and China, her music is a blend of the folk music of both cultures. Her ghostlike vocals are accompanied by the Guzheng (chinese harp) and lofi-beats, woven together with sounds collected from the natural world. Her music focuses on themes of grief, belongingness, coexisting with anxiety, and finding home in nature. She has been performing in festivals and showcases locally and around the country participating in Oregon Country Fair, Any Patch of Grass, Imagine Festival, Northwest Folklife, Portland Folk Festival, Belltown Bloom, and Duwamish River Festival.

We are a Seattle-based acoustic Latin band specializing in Boleros, Son Cubano, Cha Cha Cha, and Latin Jazz. Our four-member lineup features lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and drums, plus a female soloist who plays hand percussion and ukulele. For intimate venues, we perform as a trio without percussion, creating a softer sound. With over 20 years of live performance experience, we’ve entertained audiences of all sizes while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere. Our music honors traditional Latin genres while incorporating original compositions, bringing authentic rhythms and melodies to every performance.

“Sakhi – A Journey Through Time” is an evocative exploration of friendship—its innocence, complexities, distances, and lasting bonds. Set to the lyrical rhythm of the Shankarabharanam Pallavi in Odissi, the piece pays tribute to every sakhi (friend) who has weathered time, change, and silence, yet remains a comforting constant in our hearts. Through a blend of classical technique and expressive storytelling, the choreography traces the lives of two friends from their youthful beginnings to their mature reunion. From playful mischief to unspoken rifts, from separation to soulful reconnection—the dance mirrors the emotional ebb and flow that defines lifelong friendships. As the music unfolds, so does the narrative—reminding the audience that true friendship is not just about being inseparable, but about being able to find each other again after drifting apart

Beatbox Panda is the stage name of Vincent Bantasan, the 2019 and current Seattle Beatbox Champion. His performances are entirely vocal, featuring a dynamic blend of sound effects, powerful bass, lyrics, and funky rhythms- from Hip Hop, Funk, Rock, EDM, and Bass Music. He is known for creating personalized remixes of popular songs on the spot, delivering electrifying shows that captivate and energize audiences.

An award-winning storyteller, writer, and thru-hiker, Paul Barach’s hilarious and heartfelt stories have been featured on the Moth Grandslam stage, as well as the Story Collider, RISK!, and Out There podcasts. He’s the author of the travel memoir Fighting Monks and Burning Mountains: Misadventures on a Buddhist Pilgrimage and is currently working on his next memoir about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. When not out on trail, Paul lives in Tacoma with his wife Michelle and their dog Izzy.

Nick and Rebecca (Bar Stories founders/producers) have been producing trivia nights all around the Puget Sound Region for over 15 years, including the past 5 as the owners of our own company, How Do You Know That Trivia. We’ve been producing Bar Stories shows monthly for two years, and are currently up to 8 shows per month across the region. We’ve also produced comedy shows (My Comedian Teacher) for over 2 years in Seattle. Additionally, we have hospitality backgrounds with a combined 25 years of experience putting on professional events, stage shows, corporate parties, etc.

Taal Tarang is envisioned to be a visual treat for the audience, blending the fluidity, grace, intricate footwork and fast chakkars(spins) of Kathak with tales from Indian mythology. Pooja will be presenting a few choreographies that have been passed on to her by her Gurus through generations. These involve a narrative that brings to life the stories that are ingrained in the Indian cultural psyche. This will allow to bring to life the cultural significance and beauty of this dance form, and provide a unique and captivating experience for audiences. This would also involve a live ensemble and an interactive rhythm based segment for the audience providing a wholesome experience!

12:00 PM to 1:15 PM | Kirkland Urban | NST - Improvised Electronic Music

NST is a performance collaboration between Nate Grigg (Principal Composer at Cliffhanger Games in Kirkland), Steve Ball (polymath guitarist, composer and organizer known for his collaborations with Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists) and Tim Root (Composer, bandleader of the ensemble TROOT and musical experimentalist). Together they perform improvised music using a wide variety of modern electronic instruments and controllers, sometimes collaborating with poets, actors, movement artists and other invited guests to create singular live art.

What Is Reality? is an immersive spoken word performance that delves into the intersections of Black nerd culture and the power of manifestation. Through a fusion of poetic storytelling and rhythmic soundscapes, the show explores themes prevalent in the Black nerd community-such as identity, empowerment, and the redefinition of societal narratives. By intertwining personal anecdotes with broader cultural references, the performance challenges audiences to question their perceptions and embrace the reality they have the power to create.

Eastside Improv
