Join the Kirkland Arts Center Board of Directors

At Kirkland Arts Center, we believe the arts do more than teach creative skills. They bring people together.

For more than sixty years, KAC has been a gathering place where artists, students, educators, volunteers, patrons, and community leaders connect through a shared belief that creativity enriches lives and strengthens communities.

Today, we are seeking new board members who want to help cultivate that community and ensure it continues to thrive for generations to come.

About Kirkland Arts Center

Located in the historic Peter Kirk Building in the heart of downtown Kirkland, Kirkland Arts Center is one of the region’s leading visual arts organizations.

Each year, KAC:

  • Serves more than 1,700 students through classes and workshops
  • Offers 199 classes in ceramics, painting, printmaking, drawing, fiber arts, and more
  • Employs 43 talented teaching artists and instructors
  • Presents exhibitions and community events that showcase emerging and established artists
  • Preserves and stewards one of Kirkland’s most treasured historic landmarks, the Peter Kirk Building.

But statistics only tell part of the story.

Every day, KAC creates opportunities for people to connect, learn, collaborate, and build relationships through the arts.

Why Serve on the Board?

Board service at Kirkland Arts Center is about more than governance and oversight.

It is an opportunity to join a community of passionate, thoughtful people who care deeply about arts, culture, education, and the future of our region.

Our board includes business leaders, artists, educators, entrepreneurs, professionals, and civic-minded community members who believe that vibrant communities are built through connection, creativity, and service.

Board members help guide the organization, support its long-term sustainability, and advocate for the role that arts and culture play in community life.

They also become part of a network of engaged individuals who often form lasting friendships and meaningful professional relationships along the way.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

You do not need to be an artist.

What matters most is a commitment to community, collaboration, and helping others experience the transformative power of the arts.

Experience in areas such as finance, fundraising, marketing, legal affairs, education, nonprofit leadership, business, or community engagement is especially valuable, but curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to contribute are equally important.

Why Join Now?

Kirkland Arts Center is entering an exciting chapter of growth and opportunity.

As a board member, you will have the opportunity to help strengthen one of the Eastside’s most important cultural institutions while building meaningful relationships with people who share your commitment to community and creativity.

If you are looking for a way to make a difference, expand your network, deepen your connection to the community, and help create a vibrant future for the arts, we invite you to explore board service with Kirkland Arts Center.

Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community through the arts.
