About the Tekla Waterfield

Seattle based singer/songwriter and 2018 Listen Up! Women in Music grant recipient, Tekla Waterfield lives in the wide-open realm of Americana Roots music, incorporating elements of folk, country, indie, rhythm and blues, and soul. With influences ranging from Courtney Barnett to Aimee Mann, Jim James, Wilco, The Velvet Underground and Marvin Gaye, Waterfield aims to tell a story, paint a picture and evoke emotion with her songs.

Waterfield partners up with various accomplished musicians, (Jeff Fielder, Mike Thornhill, Elise Suttie, Ryan Burns, Melissa Montalto, Aaron O’Neil, Eric Eagle, Dan Walker, Andy Stoller and more), to flush out a full band sound. For solo shows, she incorporates a stomp pedal, foot tambourine and harmonica along with her dynamic, finger picking, rhythmic guitar.Partnering with collaborator and husband, Jeff Fielder (Mark Lanegan, Amy Ray) to produce her 2018 release, The Curtain Falls, garnered Waterfield critical acclaim, radio play, and placement in the award-winning indie film, “Dakota” with her song, Rock and Roll Man. In addition to live performances with her band, Tekla lends her vocals to others for recordings and occasional live appearances, is an active member of Seattle’s Bushwick Book Club, a group of artists who create work in response to literature, performs regularly at SeaTac Airport as part of the Experience the City of Music Project, was a long time open mic host in Seattle, and is a featured vocalist with the highly revered Seattle Rock Orchestra.
