Kirkland Arts Center is a volunteer-fueled organization! We welcome volunteers of all interests and backgrounds to learn and interact with artists, educators, and other volunteers in a fun, informal, and educational environment.

Volunteer opportunities include short-term and long-term responsibilities. Please review the volunteer opportunities below and complete the volunteer application if you are interested in volunteering with us.

Volunteer Orientation

Volunteer Orientation is required in order to participate in ongoing volunteer activities. Orientation is by appointment only. Please fill out our volunteer application and call our Volunteer Manager at (425) 822-7161 x108 or email volunteering@kirklandartscenter.org to set up your orientation appointment.

Volunteer Positions

Event Assistant

Help us run our events smoothly!  Event Assistants are our area of greatest need.  These occasional volunteers do not need to complete the regular orientation. Major events include Kirkland Artist Studio Tour (Mother’s Day Weekend each year), ARTbeat Benefit Gala (last weekend in October) and Holiday Art Market (December).

Classroom Assistant

The classroom assistant’s primary responsibility is to support the teacher and to be attentive to the instructor and students’ needs. Provide leadership and extra hands and eyes.  Most classroom assistant opportunities involve working with children. Requirements: Basic art skills and willingness to get dirty. This position is great for teens or those interested in teaching.

Camp Assistant

Our camp assistants are absolutely necessary to make summer camp run smoothly.  This is a great opportunity for high school students looking for some experience to add to those college resumes or adults who want to return to their youth for a week or two over the summer.  Requirements: week long, daytime availability, willingness to get dirty, and an affinity for working with children.

Grounds Care and Facilities Volunteers

Looking for a simple way to show you care? Join us to keep KAC looking great. Jobs include weeding, raking, watering, sweeping, mopping, organizing, and general picking up around the building. Requirements: physical mobility and a willingness to get dirty.

Administrative Assistance

From mailings to phone correspondence to marketing help, we occasionally need a little extra help in the office. Requirements: ability to stay on task in solitary work; necessary skills vary depending on assigned tasks   

Gallery Assistant

Learn the inner workings of an art gallery. Work study position. Requirements: Friendliness, interest in art, and a willingness to assist with other tasks as needed; long-term applicants only.
