Dear KAC Community,
When our city was the first in the US to be hit by the pandemic, I remember the dread and uncertainty we all felt. Nevertheless, our city and community rallied and weathered this challenge. To me, Kirkland Arts Center is a symbol of this same resilience.
I came to KAC as a student – looking to revive my inner artist. What I found was a vibrant community that cares deeply for art and also for Kirkland. It was making art and this community that sustained me–and many others–during the last two years.
Along with our new executive director, Ashlie Beach, I believe that Kirkland and KAC are poised for renewal. While the steps may be tentative at first, we believe we can confidently look forward to a time when both Kirkland and KAC will be stronger than before.
Make no mistake – there is still plenty of work to do, but we are already seeing the signs of recovery. Our class enrollment is on the path to pre-pandemic levels. In addition, we’ve recently launched an exciting new suite of teen programming that provides important instruction, valuable materials, and financial aid to students. Our mission to unleash the power of art and ignite individual growth and self-expression would not be possible without the generosity of our community. I am writing you today to ask you to support the community and valuable arts education that KAC provides – not only for our existing students but also for the artists that we have yet to reach. We would be deeply grateful for your support as we wrap up this year.
All of us at KAC are looking forward to working closely with you in the coming year to tackle the remaining challenges and come back better than ever. To the future!
