JOIN/RENEW | SUPPORT KAC
Kirkland Arts Center relies on a mixture of support from earned income, corporations, private foundations, government agencies, and individuals. We depend on earned income from our studio program for approximately 60% of our budget, and grants and corporate sponsorships make up only a portion of the remainder. Kirkland Arts Center needs your support to build a culturally vibrant community on the Eastside.
Support of Kirkland Arts Center is as multifaceted as the arts center itself. Your contribution to KAC supports our general operations, exhibitions, public outreach, and much-needed improvements to our landmark facility. You can support the arts center’s programs and projects by donating to our annual fund, joining as a member, or attending a fundraising event.
You can also make gifts of products or services in-kind or through your business as a corporate sponsor. For planned giving or Name Your Position donor opportunities, contact our development office.
The Kirkland Arts Center is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. For more information, call the Washington State Secretary of State at 1-800-332-GIVE.
IIf you have questions, would like more information, or would like to make gifts of securities, contact Lauren Erlinger, Development Director, at 425.822.7161 x 107.
Matching Program
Many employers will match your gifts to charitable organizations. Contact your employer to see if your gift qualifies for a matching gift.
No matter how you decide to give to the arts center, your gift will make a difference. Here are examples of just a few ways that your contribution can impact your community:
Public Outreach
Art Opens Doors invites underserved youth whose parents are registered with Hopelink to participate in two 6-week art classes, two one-week summer art camps and four family workshops. KAC works to make sure that there are no boundaries to arts education, providing quality arts instruction, transportation, food, and art supplies that students can take home to continue in their creative pursuits.
Art Opens Doors is just one of our public outreach programs. KAC also provides scholarships to students who cannot afford our low class fees. Most recently, KAC has partnered with Circle of Friends to provide scholarships to the mentally disabled. This video captures children and their parents participating together in a clay workshop in which the children design flower pots for Mother’s Day through Art Opens Doors.

Building Projects
The Community and Artistic Space project aims to refurbish currently unused or under-utilized areas of the facilities to improve access to programming and resources for local artists, students, members, and visitors. Restoration of the building’s grand staircase will create a central entrance point for the public and to allow for site-specific artistic installation. A redesign and renovations to the KAC kitchen will create a central, functional community space for artists, students, faculty, members and visitors. This is the first phase of a multi-phase improvement project to make much-needed repairs and renovations to the Peter Kirk Building. Executive Director Christopher Shainin, Board President Carol Belval, and Board Vice President Michele Parsons explain the project plan in the following video: Community and Artistic Space Activation Project
