Claygraphy I & II

Claygraphy I

  • Date: August 4, 6:00-8:00 pm
  • Created by: UW Museology Student Rebecca Janssen
  • Facilitated by: Dianne Aprile
  • Presented in partnership with: Hugo House

Claygraphy I is a creative writing workshop that explores the potential for visual art to inspire different forms of art. The first program of this two-part series invites writers of all skill levels for a writing workshop on gaining inspiration—for character, setting, mood, etc.—from the contemporary sculpture in KAC’s Clay? VI exhibit. Participants will then be given time to explore the KAC Gallery and begin writing original short pieces inspired by the art they see.

Free to the public. Part of KAC’s Summer of Clay series.

Claygraphy II

  • Date: August 19, 6:00-8:00 pm
  • Created by: UW Museology Student Rebecca Janssen
  • Facilitated by: Dianne Aprile
  • Presented in partnership with: Hugo House

Participants in Claygraphy I and the general public are invited to submit finished poems or short stories based on the pieces in KAC’s Clay? VI exhibit. Claygraphy II will unveil and celebrate selected written works alongside the pieces that inspired them, as well as reveal the prize-winning entries. Authors will read excerpts of their works and facilitator Dianne Aprile will say a few words about the Claygraphy project. Select written works will then be on display in the KAC Gallery for the remainder of the exhibit through September 10th.

Free to the public. Part of KAC’s Summer of Clay series.
