Introducing brand new teen programming at Kirkland Arts Center

Featuring local experts and experienced teaching artists, there’s a suite of options for every teen. Whether you prefer a more traditional structure of an 8 week class that meets each Sunday, or to choose workshops a la carte; whether you’re hoping to explore art for the first time, to build your skills in a medium you’ve worked with in the past, or to prepare your portfolio for a collegiate art program, we have a fit for you!

All necessary art supplies will be provided. Scholarships and transit passes are available to any students who need them. Contact education@kirklandartscenter.org to inquire about aid.

Kirkland Arts Center has updated COVID protocols in place.  Click here to learn more.

Four Ways for Teens to Engage at Kirkland Arts Center this Winter

8-Week Expressive Figure for Teens

The Expressive Figure for Teens

Cooper Lanza | Sundays 1/23/22 – 3/13/22 | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm | Skylight Studio

Taught by experienced instructor Cooper Lanza, The Expressive Figure for Teens will lead students through the basics of figure drawing with an aim towards personal expression in additional to observational skill. Models will be clothed. This is a 8-week class.

Maliha Maswood has made a long practice of compiling useful information for artistic voice inspiration. In this series she will introduce important elements of artistic vocabulary using examples from art history. Then the students will learn how to apply those skills using their own particular voice. This series can be chosen a la carte and is geared towards younger teens and pre-teens aged 10-15; however anyone from ages of 10-19 may join.

This is a series of classes that teens can choose a la carte. Each session will focus on a particular aspect of portfolio development from sketchbooking to preparing an artist statement. This series is aimed towards teens in their junior and senior years as they prepare for college applications, but anyone aged 13-19 may join.
