Executive Director

David Lynx

David Lynx is originally from the Puget Sound region, growing up on Mercer Island and having lived in Bellevue, Kirkland, and Seattle.  He received  his B.A. from the University of Washington in theatre, and Masters from the University of Oklahoma in Museum Studies. He has been the Director of the Sheehan Gallery at Whitman College, Associate Director of the Yakima Valley Museum, and most recently the director of the Larson Gallery at Yakima Valley College.  For 26  years, he has also taught Art Appreciation, Asian Art History, and Art of Yoga at Yakima Valley College and wrote the weekly art scene column for the Yakima Herald-Republic He is excited to finally be “home” again and looks forward to working at the Kirkland Arts Center and being part of the community.

Director of Education

Rob Kmiec

Rob Kmiec is originally from Boston. He began his journey in arts education as a volunteer CG instructor at the Cambridge Community Art Center while pursuing a B.F.A in Illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He taught art and developed the CG Program at Catholic Memorial School where he also served as department chair and faculty representative to the board of directors. After receiving his Masters from Syracuse University he went west to teach and chair the Fine Arts Department at DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond. While there, he assembled a diverse and dynamic team of instructors, co-authored multiple program revisions and reboots and supported institutional growth with overseas partners in Singapore, Spain, Japan and Thailand. He is thrilled to be working with a new group of creatives in order to craft, refine and deliver unique, equitable and vibrant educational experiences.

Glenda Cooper

Glenda Cooper has been an integral volunteer member of the KAC staff for the last twenty years, and holds amazing institutional memory. She deftly helps students register for class, and assists staff and teaching artists prepare for, and then execute classes. In addition, she is a talented painter and mixed media artist, who has a passion for plants and archery. Glenda has taken a number of painting, art history, and abstract art classes at KAC, and is a great resource for class recommendations, or sourcing art supplies. Originally from Virginia, she lives with her husband and dog in Woodinville.

Eleanor Stelter

Eleanor Stelter is an interdisciplinary artist focused on three-dimensional functional work who finds great joy in helping people express themselves creatively. Since graduating with a BFA in 2018, they have worked primarily in the ceramics community. Eleanor has taught every age demographic and loves to continuously expand their skill set and pass useful and sustainable practices on to others.

Blake Brashaw (they/she)

Blake grew up as a rural Arizona desert dweller. They earned an interdisciplinary degree in studio art, community engagement, political science, and history from Northern Arizona University, where Blake discovered and immediately fell in love with atmospheric firings.
Now living in Washington, Blake is pursuing a life in the confluence of creativity and community with ceramics as the cornerstone. Beyond clay, their hope is to utilize their passions for art, storytelling, and sustainability to bring people closer both to each other and to their planet.

Alie Miller (she/her)

Alie Miller is a Northwesterner and long-time student at KAC. She enjoys building community, exploring form and function in clay, and supporting others in their artistic journey. Alie never stops developing her skills and knowledge and is excited to be a part of the vibrant community at KAC.
